Hello

Here's a brief overview of my situation: I will be graduating this May 2009 as Bachelor of Science in Biology. When I started college, I knew I wanted to do something in medical field but never really decided on what. I showed some doctors and dentists but realized that that's not what I wanted to do. I went to a podiatrist couple months ago as a patient and was thrilled after talking to him. Now I definitely know that I want to become a podiatrist. Now here's the hard part.

I basically blew off my college years because I thought I would hate any branch of medical field(obviously I was wrong) and was planning on getting MBA after undergrad. My undergrad cGPA will be 3.0 and sGPA will be 2.6-2.7. I know this is a very low GPA and I know I probably don't stand a chance. But what can I do to improve my chances next cycle? Are there any one year post-bac programs that I can take to improve my GPA? I will start to shadow a podiatrist within couple weeks.

Any suggestion on what EC I should do to improve my chances of getting in?

Welcome Johnb!
Similar questions have been asked before, so a quick search will probably get you a lot of good answers. In my opinion, I think a 1-year post-bacc would be a decent idea. You will definately want to boost your science GPA somehow. I wouldn't focus as much on EC's as I would on a good GPA. From what I have seen, an increased GPA will help you out far more than a few more hours spent volunteering. Shadow some podiatrists, understand what podiatry is all about, and score decent on the MCAT, and you should have a good chance. Good luck!
