So here is my situation. I'm 30 (as of yesterday) I have a doulbe degree in Geology and Economics (3.44 gpa) and an MS in Geology from a top 3 school. I lack a few of the pre-reqs (Organic and bio and a litte physics). I'm doing an EMT this summer and hope to volunteer on ambulances this fall.

For the last 3 years I've been trying to figure out a way to work and do my own post bacc program. I just can't seem to do it brecause I work 60 hour weeks. I don't want to risk doing poorly.

So what are your thoughts on Post Bacc programs? I can afford it. I know I can do the work. There is no question in my mind. I guess i'm just looking for a little support.

Is there anyone out there who has done the Bryn Mawr or Columbia programs? Is it likely to get through them in 9 months if I have the Basic chem, physics and math?

The web sites say the requirements for entrance is a 3.0? If this for real? Does anyone know what the average accepted applicant looks like? Opinions are welcome.

I can't answer any of your quetions (Sorry), but I wanted to say Happy Birthday. 😀

I did not do a postbac program, but i did go to Bryn Mawr as an undergrad and TAed for the postbacs so maybe i can give you som advice. I hope. Anyway, the program is quite competitive and the people are very dedicated and work really hard. On the other hand, the postbacs are a tight knit group and seem to help each other out quite a bit. Plus, postbacs have their very own premed advisor and Bryn Mawr has so kind of agreement with Temple medical school where if you get such and such grades and MCAT scores that they will accept you. All the PA med schools seem to really look fondly on Bryn MAwr post bac graduates. Two BMC postbac grads are now in my class. As far as the program goes, I think that you can enter at any stage if you already have a particular course. I think you take two lab sciences at a time and the Postbacs have their own classes apart from the undergrads and tend to have higher averages than the undergrads. I think the program is definitley worth looking into. If you have any more questions pm me.
