Another Q about the NYU Dorms

This might be a stupid question, but I've never stayed in a dorm before so I dont know. I dont know anyone else going to school at NYU and I'm worried about who my room mate will be. In Aug. or at any point in time will we be allowed to choose who we want for our room mates? I know they will assign us, but lets say I dont like that person, can you switch easily?
