Graduated Dartmouth college 95
2.5 gpa
2.5 science

have recently quit job and gone back to school full time taking undergrad pre-reqs and will continue taking courses to boost the gpa. presumably 30 or so credits at 4.0 could get me to 2.8 i am roughly guessing.

4 classes taken so far at 4.0 (first sememster general bio,
full year gen chem, 1 sem. o-chem)

23/21 Dat

do i have a chance? Does the fact that i have been out of school for 7 years and that i have excellent class and dat performance outweigh the dark cloud of my past?

need some feedback, I'm going to send an app asap, to be delivered to 14 schools. any chance i'm wasting a boat- load of money?

I don't think you're wasting money. It may be tough to show your improvement with only 4 classes of 4.0. Your DAT is terrific and will AT LEAST make the dental schools think twice before rejecting you b/c of an old GPA. Make sure you have some good extras/experience to put in your app. I think your DAT may very well be your savior.

I am very impressed with your DAT scores! You must have studied a lot. I htink that schools will look since you ahve obviously shown an improvement, but what do I know...I am waiting just like you. 🙂

Don't give up, take the right path even if it is the longest. I you really want to walk on the moon, you will!!

I know a guy with a similar story, low GPA, took 12 years off of school and then went back to take prereqs-he is now my dentist! Best of luck-you will succeed!!

No you are not wasting a boat-load of money. You have a solid chance. In my conversations with dental school students and some admmissions office folks I have encounted nothing but positive comments on having taken time off before considering dental school. I have also heard that some schools actually like older students (notably Columbia and Upenn). Make sure you write a killer statement and get good recos. Best of luck. I am sure your dreams will come true. 😎
