Hello guys, I don't know if it's just me or universal. for somereason when ever I sitdown to study, I loose focus in wierd thoughts..I thought it was ok at first but they are just at wrong time. Can someone advice me on how to get really focused here!. How do you guys get to work. Give us some Studying strategies. :rolleyes:

We're men, there is no solution to getting rid of sexual thoughts. It's engrained (ingrained?) in our mind! Study ideas: Classical music. They say it sets your brainwaves at a good frequency for cognizence. And this was a UC Davis study. If you are a visual learner, visualize everything, if you are an auditory learner, verbalize everything. Be patient with yourself, and don't overdo it. That is always more harm than good.
 
And hey, the classical just may help squelch the sex drive.

Masturbate. It's cheap, safe and efficient.
As for staying focused, I'd just keep redirecting yourself (immediately) until it becomes habit. This will work but the hard part is to remain aware of your spacing out.
 
I agree...just jerk it and enjoy the relief. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes from your studying.
 
Get married...that'll remove all those thoughts ;) ;) ;) :D

Hey, this doesn't only happen to guys! I am female and studying also has this effect on me. I guess mental stimulation somehow affects that part of our brains. Lucky for me, I am married, and always have my hubby on standby when studying for exams :D ;)

Most the time I have to do it a couple times...then I can finally focus and OPEN the book to begin. After I have started, it's another few times.

Why not just do the deed WHILE studying?! It's efficient and fun at the same time. Your hands aren't really useful when reading anyways, so put them to good work! I know a lot of premeds who do that and they get good grades too.
 
you have again either one of two options

1) masturbate and then go study? however, don't exceed your masturbation limit, otherwise most energy gets burnt and you will fall asleep...

now option

2) if your a striaght male, then about John Goodman in a thong, (that will cure the problem)

3) If your gay, think Roseanne in a thong (that will cure the problem also)
 
I'm with Scooby. You gotta handle that several times before you can even think about opening that book and concentrating.

ok, you guys have no idea how "hard" it is (pun intended) even for me! I am a single girl, and I know I even have options if I wanted to get in the sack with somebody (no strings attached), but I had told myself "no extra curricular activities during MCATs" and decided to stay away from boys for an entire 4 months. It's funny how I had made that committment to myself, and now it's exactly THAT that is distracting me from studying. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

More power to you Tweetie!!! I find that if I abstain, it makes my mind muddled. Doing it keeps me sharp. To each her own (however, you are not without options, as there are certain devices out there that a gal in such a posititon can consider).

A couple of years ago, I read somewhere that for a woman to be using 100% of her brain power, she needs to be having sex at least once a week. This wasn't in a medical journal. It was in US News. I don't know how credible it is, but it's definitely an interesting piece of info.

I didn't check this site for a whole day and I come to find out that I have opened up a whole new can of worms.

As for as ...certain plastic devices, I am not into that thang, so thanks for the suggestion. LOL ....I had read something in a Women Studies book about how vibrators were actually used as a "therapeutic device" by doctors (ob/gyn) on women because it seemed to help women "rid of their mania." WHATEVER! Although I didn't agree with it then (I am still a traditional gal), I wonder how true that would be. It seems most people would be more intune with their studies etc if they got a little on the side. Anyway, I'm rambling.

If you make a habit of it by doing it many times a day then you can overcome the sleepiness you feel when you do it :)
