Hello all,

I sent out my AADSAS on 7-12-04. I took my DAT's before but I didn't score so great (although my PAT was good...19 🙂 ). Anyway, seeing that I am a FL resident and UF is my #1 choice, I was wondering if any UF alum or current UF dental students could give me some advice as to what I need to do to have a good chance of getting accepted into UF. For example, what are the matriculating scores/gpa's; would they take someone with a 17 AA if the rest of their app. was strong; do all FL residents get interviewed? I recently took a Topscore full length and I scored:

Bio: 17
chem: 16
orgo: 16
PAT: 20
RC: 20
QR: 18

My GPA: 3.29
Science: 3.21

Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated. thanks.

come one, there's got to be at least one gator out there? 😕

Not many gators on here, but NSU is VERY well represented 🙂.

Say hi to Sposetti for all of us.

I can see that...Nova is actually my 2nd choice only because of tuition purposes. In all actuality, Nova's sim labs are much much better and newer than UF's sim labs. Actually, as soon as I get my DAT scores, Suann told me to fax my scores in, hopefully i'll get an interview 🙂

Crocs are faster than gators.

Well the averages for DAt are like a 19 or 20 and PAT of 20. GPA around 3.5 or 3.6 average. I imagine with that being the average a 3.3 is bound to have a chance. Dont sweat it... just be optimistic. Any school you get your degree at should be good enough to practice dentistry. You may want to email the admissions dean (Dr. Sposetti) and get her advice on improving your application to UF. Good luck.

nova does have nice sim labs. they are a good school as well. you cant go wrong with them. keep in mind our sim labs are for simulation... ie learning... and they are not more than 5 years old. u will only use them for 1.5 - 2 years. who really cares as long as u learn how to do the procedures before going into clinics. anywho... my 2 cents. good luck.

GatorDMD:

Do you have Dr. Sposetti's email address, I can't find it. Is it ok for me to email her with questions about my DAT/GPA/chances of getting in or will she look down upon that? thanks for the advice.

if i were in your shoes I would probably call and try to make an appt with her so you can talk it over with her in person. An email is very impersonal and she cant put a face to it. if you go and try to tak with her and see her recommendations... it could only help. my 2 cents. good luck. let me know how it goes.
