Any format changes?

There is always a low rumble among the dental community about dropping the PAT and math portions, but I don't know if and when this will come to fruition.

I've been hearing about it since 1998, and nothing has happened yet.

I wouldn't count on anything changing. But we've all been surprised before!

i love the math portion. that section boosted my score so high.
dont take it away!!!!!!!!

😀

for PAT, i thought they are praising the section is a great indicator of the technical skills. i think it is important to keep it in. Just curious, since PAT is 2D, i m wondering if they will do something that's 2.5D or close to 3D since it is on a computer.

definitely keep physics out is the best idea.

There are differing opinions on the PAT. My pre-dental advisor told me that an admissions director at a very respectful dental school said he has never seen a low score in the PAT ever keep a student from exceling in dentistry over the 25 years he has been there.

Basically, I asked her if I should be worried about the PAT, since it has consistently been my lowest section on practice tests. This was the comment she relayed to me.

Looking at the PAT. I fail to see how folding papers and punching holes would have anything to do with dental school.

I'm for knocking down math to algebra😀

My opinion:

Keep physics out

Math is OK... keeps us thinking

Take the plant stuff out of bio and make it more human related(similar to MCAT bio). throw more anatomy and physiology questions in there.

Shorten the passages (just like MCAT)

Add a writing section (but how would the DAT be scored on the same day then??)

PAT is cool (despite what most of you guys think) just improve the resolution.

and most important of all ... release some new exams!!!

Comet!
