How much work is dental school?
Is it really hard and you have to be always working in dental school during the 4 years?
What about after dental school?

I would appreciate if anyone can give me detail input about amount of work in each dental school year(1st,2nd,3rd,4th).

I attended Universidade do Grande Rio (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) for a 5 year dental program.

Each semester you had at least 5 subjects, classes from Monday thru Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm, being one day of the week (Usually Wednesday) from 12:30pm to 8:00pm

It is a very intense program (so intense that it does not require undergrad degrees. If you pass on a National test you are in and after 5 years you are a doctor).

H O W E V E R, I still haven't seen any campus with more social events that med/dental school. We had happy hour events everyday after class and on Tuesdays (remember, Wednesday only classes in the afternoon) big parties all night long.

As far as I know, you study hard, you play hard. But that was in the city that REALLY never sleeps, where 65% of dental students are women and where 40% of the world most beautiful women came from(turn your TV into "Wild on E! in Rio" and you will understand)

Good luck to you,

Here's what I can tell you about my 4 years at UCONN. Yes, I had to put some serious hours of studying in. Classes were generally from 8 to 12 and 1 to 5ish(some days a bit earlier) Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday morning exams or labs. Compared to my years in college, my partying slowed a little , but not too much 😀 (I think for the sake of my liver that that wasn't a bad thing  ) A good portion of my class would generally get together with each other and folks from other years and folks in the med school on Fridays for happy hour, and roughly once a month there would be a good sized school subsidized party 😀 .

Basically, you can have some fun while in dental school, but you need to remember while you're there. And I'll guarentee that you'll have some nights when you get home from classes/clinics that you will want to drink, and drink heavily Generally though the closer you get to graduation, the higher the stress level (will I finish my requirements, board exams, residencies/jobs, etc, etc, etc), but just about everyone gets through it. And for most folks somewhere around your 5th reunion, you'll have forgotten about how much you hated your dental school as you were trying to finish your requirements and decide to donate a few $$ to the school(generally this is after one of the deans has spent a little time shoveling some drinks at you at an alumni reception 😀 )
