Hi,

Caucasian male, jumped around a lot from program to program in undergrad, and extenuating circumstances with family health made my GPA start out really low.

GPA
Freshman : 1.54 67 credit hours was still a freshman.
Sophomore : 2.66
Junior : 2.95
Senior : 3.16

cGPA: 3.16 sGPA: 3.3

Upward trend last 105 credits were 4.0.

ECs: 600 hours as scribe 2 specialties
1000 hours as football coach
500 hours non-clinical volunteering
40 hours shadowing (primary care)
600 hours of research (no publications)
3 LORS

State of residence: South Carolina

516 MCAT, Even 129 across.

Considering SMP for MD. Still open to DO if competitive.

Any help/advice appreciated, thank you!

What is your cumulative sGPA and cGPA ? You need to take enough additional undergraduate level science courses to increase your sGPA and cGPA to 3.0 before you apply. Where is your state of residence ?

Apply to all 3 of your South Carolina MD schools. You are competitive for many DO schools and I suggest these:
VCOM (all 3 schools)
CUSOM
PCOM Georgia and South Georgia
ACOM
ARCOM
NYIT-Arkansas
UIWSOM
UP-KYCOM
MU-COM
LECOM (all schools)
You are fine to apply to both MD and DO schools this month.

@Faha Sorry about taking up more of your time, but would you recommend a SMP to make me more competitive for MD?

Aren't those 105 credits of 4.0 the equivalent of a very solid DIY postbacc?

@Walter Raleigh I think so but I don't know i'm pretty ignorant when it comes to postbaccs, only thing I kinda know about is SMP's but if you have any help/advice I would be happy to hear it!

I agree with my learned colleague. Add both LECOMs to the list
