I have my BS and am just beginning to take pre-med courses (1/semester) on the east coast. I would like to apply to Minnesota down the road. When I sent a general email to Minnesota I received a blanket email along the lines of "... we cannot provide individual counsel to people." However, I do a couple of questions for them regarding preparation since I'm taking classes 1/2 way across the country, and have questions regarding residency laws and policies (residency - where we live, not the step after med school). Has anyone ever contacted MN with questions, and if so, what people, phone numbers or emails are helpful? Is there anyone there that can help non-MN students? 😕 and 🙁

You can set up an in-person meeting with one of their admissions counselors. I did that and I know other people who did that too. Just call the admissions office and ask. The office staff people are really nice.

Why do you specifically want to go to Minnesota, by the way? Everyone is going to wonder that!

for questions about residency, you can contact Kay Anderson in the Resident Classification Office, 612-625-6330. I think the policy is something like you need to live in MN for more than one year for a reason other than going to school. hope this helps.

Homestate. Also, from a colleague that went there, it seems like a good fit for me compared to other schools other colleagues tell me about. There are other schools I'd like to apply to as well, but would prefer MN.

What about if one is in the uniformed services?

Who did you meet with? I'd have to do it by phone since I live on the East Coast now.

Be sure to contact Ophelia Butz. She is a big help.
