Are there any hotels within walking distance (relatively speaking) from UMaryland? Any that have reliable shuttle services?

Yes, there are a couple withing walking distance from the school (10-15 min walk). If you call the school, they would be more than happy to refer you to some hotels. In their interview packets, they will have a list of hotels that are close by.

If I remember correctly, I stayed at the Days Inn (on Lombard St.) for my interview for about $100/night.
