Let's get a Ga school thread going. Emory, Mercer, MCG, and that other school.

Whos heard what? interviews, acceptances, etc.

how long ago did you interview?

No word from MCG.
Interview at Mercer but I declined
Interviewed at Emory and waiting for letters

why'd you apply to mercer? Have you already received an acceptance elsewhere?

What other school?

anyone have any stats about moorehouse? I just read that their class is only 40 people (20 instate).

emory i have lost hope for. thought i might have a slight chance because i'm a georgia resident, but seems like i'm one of those applicants that they will let fall through the cracks.

and why is mcg being slow? or is just sdn members are not hearing much from them? every time i call, they are nice on the phone but don't want to tell me anything. they don't even want to say how far along the interview process is, if my file has even been reviewed, about which month interviews are being scheduled into right now, nothing. why are they being so tight-lipped?

for those of you who have interview invites, tell us when your interviews are and when you were complete & invited. thanx.

I declined Mercer because I have received acceptances.

MCG is also being quite slow with me too. I was complete late Augustand I have heard no word. I know my stats are not bad so that should not be it. Anyway, if I hear from them I am going to insist on finding out why it took so long. I figure I could have a little fun with them.

Don't worry too much about Emory. Word is that anyone from a GA undergrad is kept until almost the very last interview so they can fill in cancellations with locals.

Interviewed on Nov 4 and still no word back - it sounds like they have a lot of people to review already.

MCG - completed mid-August, invite 10/12, interviewed 11/16
Emory - completed 10/3, invite 10/31, interview 12/12

When I interviewed at MCG, they told us they fill their class up pretty evenly as the year goes along, so if they happen to interview lots of outstanding candidates toward the end of the year, they'll still have room. I'm not sure how they choose interviewees, but every person interviewed gets placed in a gigantic pool with all of the others interviewed, and they take the ones they like best from the pool and accept them - kind of like how the Hall of Fame balloting works; you might get in later even if you don't get in initially. Supposedly, they've already interviewed lots of people, so maybe that's why they've slowed down on the invites, but if you're a strong candidate, I wouldn't be too worried.

thanks for the info guys, let's keep 'em coming!

Dont stress too much. As far as I know the committee meets once a month, and reviews all people interviewed in that month, and those not accepted from previous months, and send out their decisions once a month also. So if you interviewed in November, chances are that the committee hasn't met yet for the next batch of decisions, and also if you don't hear from them now, you have a chance of hearing from them all the way through to March, so don't stress and hang tight! You have nothing to worry abut so far, Good luck! :luck:

Just gonna be a pest and bump this up...has anyone NOT heard from Emory yet?

Maybe we should create an "Official Emory Acceptance Thread."

Yeah go ahead and make it...I interviewed Nov. 11 and no word yet ( I know it has not been long)

Hey JG, what's up. Yeah, I only interviewed on the 14th. Kind of a fun setup, wasn't it? Anyway, I'll make the thread now.

Congrats on getting in! If you matriculate at mcg I'll be a 3rd year when you are in your 1st. PM if you have any questions.

Congrats to those that got in.. I guess those of us who interviewed in that time period and haven't heard back... are in bad shape.

Ditto - congrats on the MCG. I think they accepted 70 from Early Decision, and I'm sure they've accepted a few more since then, so I'd guess they probably accepted at least half the class (since there's 190 in next year's class)?

Not at all. MCG really spaces out its acceptances. I got mine in early March and know lots of people in my current class who got in later. There is also typically a fair amount of wait-list movement. Good luck!
