Any one know what "dental islands" are?

Maybe you mean 'dentin islands'.

... aren't those when little dentin globes get trapped in the pulp of the tooth?

Or I might be thinking of cementum. *too lazy to go look it up*.
 
yeah i meant "dentin islands". thanks for your reply... now, are those the same as pulp stones?
 
Dental islands, also called Liesegang calcifications are seen in Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumors (Pindborg tumors). These are seen in the posterior mandible associated with impacted teeth. Hope this helps.
