Any PGY-2 psych positions available?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
can someone who is in this year's match post a list of psychiatry residency program's PGY-2 positions available this July?

Look on the APA web site- they list ads for all programs that are looking for residents (fellowship, PGY-2 to PGY-4).
You can also go to individual program sites to see if they add positions in the PGY-2 year, but I don't know of any organized way to find all the programs that do this. A few that come to mind are UNM, UW, and Stanford.

Another is the University of Nevada (Las Vegas) program which is exclusively PGY2.

does anyone know of any psych residency programs that will have an open PGY-2 position, starting this July?

Hi,
Check with University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Peace. 🙂

I checked on the APA website, but I did not see any mention of open PGY-2 psych positions at UNM, UW, or Stanford? Are they unlisted?

No, there are some programs that regularly offer PGY-2 positions (not because anyone has left the program), so they aren't listed on the APA site. I don't think that "year" is one of the criteria for searches on FRIEDA, so as far as I know, you have to search individual program sites (Stanford, Washington...wherever) to see if they have these spots.

Baylor has 2 PGY2 spots each year.

thanks for the clarification.

any suggestions on how one is supposed to bring up the idea of transferring to the program director at your current program?

if u are direct from the start, aren't u screwed if u apply and don't get into the program u wish to transfer into? why would your current program want u back in such a scenario?

to avoid the above scenario, do u simply apply and see if u can first get accepted into the program u want to transfer into, and then tell ur current program?

if anyone has dealt with this before, any advice would be welcome. thanks.

2 more programs that I know have PGY2 slots are Yale and JHU

i'm not sure if its too late for THIS July, but I know UW, Stanford, and UT Southwestern add PGY2 spots.
