Well I thought amongst all of the hottly debated threads and nervous SDNers I would start a non-threatening stress free thread.

Any golfers out there? Find any time to get out on the course inbetween schoolwork and applying? Or play on a college team (dont know how you do it)?

I just shot my personal best of 73 😀 on Sunday at Elgin CC! I shot 73 once before , 74 once before, and 75 a couple times. Ive thought about trying out for the team but I have enough on my plate and I dont like waking up at 5am 😱 plus I dont know if I would make it

I TRY to golf but I am sorry to say that, well my game is very poor. It might be that I am using my grandad's clubs from the late 80's. I'm not sure but I believe there may be some better technology in clubs nowadays. Maybe that will help. If I get in, and graduate from dental school I'll buy some new ones from Wal-Mart.

golf about 1 time a week during summer, have yet to get out this semester. I am not stressing though, I will have plenty of chances in abou 5-6 years...

Its not an easy game by any means. But the right equiptment is definatly a good start. But lessons are important unless you can videotape yourself and figure out whats wrong...which is pretty hard to do. The problem is practice, practice, practice....no time for it 🙁 .

yea ive found it hard during the school year...I stopped playing for a couple years and recently picked it up again last spring. Im trying to squeeze in a round everyweekend, but its hard.

ha cool thread. yeh i have been playin for 15 years. i play every chance i get...which isn't that much. my wife just allowed me to get two wedges...Clevelands (56 and 60 degree) and i love them. Golf course is one of the only places i can relax. 5-8 handicap

very cool... I have a cleveland 56* gunmetal SW and I love it. I use it everwhere within 110 yards. I used it to chip in for Eagle on Sunday in fact! First eagle in a while. I never have actually calculated my handicap but I would say probably somwhere around 5. Keep it up!

OMG...does goling help get me into dental school!?!?!

Just kidding. I only picked up golfing this last summer. I find time to go out with friends to full courses about once a month, but haven't been out since school started back up. I have been to the driving range and to some smaller 9 hole courses this last month though.

I know several people in dental school who golf...they don't get out much, but I think UCSF and UOP still have a golf tournament each year...so if I get into one of those schools I'll totally play (except they'll probably want me to play for the other team to drag down their scores)

I've been playing for the past 12 years but have had a hard time playing lately because of school. I started scheduling time for the driving range on my way home from school this semester and hopefully will get to play this weekend. Just got some new woods and I am anxious to get out there and see if I still have it. I need to keep it up so I have something to do when my office is closed on Fridays!!!

I have been playing for two years, working on the low 90's trying to break 90 but we will see what happens.

I have some brand new Callaway clubs-I am still adjusting to them but so far they have been great. I have been getting out about once a week trying to get more, but school gets in the way😀

I love Golf, getting out there when the dew is still on the greens, eating a Brat and dinking some beer after the turn.. One of the finer things in life... It is ironic that a game with as many rules and eddicut can be so relaxing and freeing..

it is nice and relaxing...until you hit a 325 yard drive...are 105 out and you hit it fat...lol...happened to me the other day. soo frustrating! Yeh, i just bought my clevelands...i really like them. it's going to take a little getting use to since my old wedge was quite a bit lighter. I have the gun metal finish as well...seems to help control the spin a little better. I hope to be able to play once every two weeks or so during ds, but who knows. that is...if i make it into dental school.

Our screennames are so impersonal- are there any other girl golfers?
I was captain of the golf team in highschool but since then college and now work have made it so that I rarely get to play. My dad plays a couple times a week and I went out with him and a couple of his friends a two weekends ago. Needless to say it was very embarrassing.

I'm a girl golfer. I was captain of my high school team too. I opted not to play in college because I put WAY too much pressure on myself during tournaments (coincidentally I am still doing it). Last round I played, my brother and I paired up with another twosome and the other guys choked when they saw how good I was. It was great!

best course in Utah is by far Valley View, second would be Bountiful Ridge

any thoughts?

I'm in love with golf...though despite 3 yrs of lessons, my personal best on a par 72 course is hovering around 100. I need to improve majorly 😛

I believe Homestead is one of the nicest in less you are talking about St. Gorge, then it is wolf mountain or corral canyon-hands down-but then you are paying $150 for a round of golf

How's the Homestead these days? That was my home course. I picked the range there during high school. It was one of the best jobs I ever had. 2 hours a day, 7 bucks an hour and free golf all week! I wish I had a job (and time) like that now.

Any dental students have dental school golf leagues? I have always wanted to put together a league for dental students, faculty and local dentists to join near ASDOH. I miss the competition of playing competitively (and for free).

Well If I ever go to ASDOH I would be down for something like that. I too miss playing competetivly. I cant seem to find a whole lot of amature tournaments that arent uber serious.

Although both my chances of getting into dental school and making it on the PGA tour seem about equal right now
