Any specialties that make for (more) convenient US-to-UK move?

Okay, here's the deal:

1 - American MD, + year of internship or residency (whichever the General Medical Council requires-- was unclear on whether it was the internship or residency year they required) + willing to take PLAB and qualify for limited registration

2 - Husband-to-be is British, possible permanent move to UK.

🙂

So what fields/specialties would I have to wait years to get a (re?)training post in? And what fields/specialties would I be able to get a (re?)training post in fairly quickly?

And, how much of a disadvantage would I be put at by those making hiring decisions, compared to UK medical graduates?

Surgery posts seemed like they were very difficult to get, and impossible if you weren't British. However, pediatric surgery seemed to have a number of foreign consultants. OB/gyn and psychiatry seemed to have the youngest consultants, so they are probably easier to get posts in. I don't know about GP's.

Good luck!
