Just curious if there are any SUNY students here! I went to Binghamton undergrad and am applying this year to MD programs. 😀 😀 😉

Hey, a fellow Bingo grad. I also went to Binghamton and graduated last year. Good luck.

Fern, I graduated in May of 2001, too. Were you in the biochem program? 😀

Any more??????

hey i was a binghamton grad, class of 2000, biochemistry, and if you might know me, i was the actor too....byee

I was Biochemistry, 2001.. ....BINGHAMTON RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

Bored Eric? 😉

Hey I just started at Binghamton, any tips for a lowly freshman

Shutup John.....I am procrastinating my Yale essay!!!

😉

Tips? Ummmmm......get straight A's. Take an internship or two at Wilson Memorial Hospital through OCC. It is usually a pretty good experience. DO research with anyone, especially in Chem!!!! It is REALLY easy to do an honors thesis in Chem......not so much so in bio or biochem. I suggest you do one.

Well Eric, when you get into Yale or Wash U or Cornell, you're gonna remember your Binghamton folks.... right? You're not gonna ignore us... right? 😉

Sanman,
-Yeah get really good grades and be serious about your classes
-it may help to major in biochemistry (that is if you don't have strong aversions for P chem or Bio P. Chem.) over biology in terms of research internships, etc.
-if you want to do honors research or just some independent study scout out your options. As cmb said the chem dept is probably overall more successful. Go to entrez-pub med and see which faculties have published recently and which haven't (don't want to mention any names 😀). Some of the faculty may even have infamous reputations 😉.
-and to differ from cmb 😀, don't do an occ internship. Wasn't it like 100 hours/semester 😱. Just volunteer a few semesters. If you don't want to go off campus, there's Harpurs Ferry.

Well John.....I can see you are avoiding mentioning a certain person's name. 😉 😀 Possibly because we both did research with her, and had the door shut in our face many times. 😡

I thought OCC was cool. It may be pretty long hours (10-12 per week), but it is an easy A. Plus you can get reccommendations from it. I got one from an MD at the Wilson ER. The only MD rec I got!!!!!! Also, SANMAN, apply for some summer research positions at NYU, Rockefeller, or even the NIH (where I am now) they can really give a big boost to your appz. Good luck. Oh and ACE the MCATS!!!!!!!!!!! 😱 😱

Hey Eric,
Do you know about the NIH program for med students who want to take a year off and do research? I met with a professor I thought I'd be interested in working for. She reminded me of you know who ( 😉), however alot more successful lol.

Binghamton class of 2001

Hey John...I haven't gotten my diploma yet!!!!! Should I be worried????? You should probably private message me your number.
