So here is what we're working with so far.
GPA: 3.65
Science GPA: 3.6
MCAT: 26
EC: Developmental Hockey Coach 2 years.
Hospital Experience: Certified Emergency Room Medical Scribe - 2 years, over 1000 pts seen and over 1500 hours on job experience.
Over 150 hours spent in multiple fields such as: Internal Medicine, OB-Gyn, Cardiothoracic, General Surgery, Radiology, Pediatrics and Anesthesia.
I feel like I'm pretty solid in my Hospital Experience. Throughout the years I have picked up a plethora of medical terminology, procedures, and medication uses. I guess what I am asking is how realistic should I be for an MD school. I have no issues attending a D.O. school if that is the case.
What is an Emergency Room Medical Scribe?
· Collaborate with Emergency Room Physicians, documenting physicians physical exam notes for each individual patient.
· Observe medical staff and patient interactions with various medical situations.
· Document patient histories as per attending physician and research patients previous medical records.
· Document ROS (review of systems); i.e patients secondary complaints from the attending physician.
· Document physician to physician consultations in person and through telephone.
· Assist emergency room physicians by documenting patient procedures and old records in order to help with physician diagnostic findings.
· Assisting physicians in any way possible that is not directly related to patient care (attaining suture kits, files, or relaying information from physician to nursing staff).
Any feedback would be appreciated guys.
