well ohio state is a great school and ranked slightly ahead of UC. I am choosing UC mainly for the reason that my father is a well known physician in Cincinnati and it helps to have his connections. I know it isnt necessarily fair but hey, this is how the world works. Connections are key in the big scheme of things. I also think he will be more inclined to help me financially if I am close by. I want to leave school with as little debt as possible. So that is my decision. Ohio state i think it 10 spots higher on the rankings than UC but in the big scheme of things i dont think that matters one bit.

also why denmark for the name? i studied abroad in copenhagen so denmark will always have a place in my heart.

It is nice to hear 🙂 As long as I do well for myself, I am sure that should help me getting letters of rec for residencies and gives me an immediate in to talk to other doctors.

how are your stats? i just got my mcat score back and am waiting. check out my profile. They told me they want at least a 8 in verbal and 10+ in sciences. hopefully they werent lying 🙂

shadow and establish your own identity. Just a thought. If I were you, I would go to med school anywhere but Cincinnati. Aren't you confident that you can succeed on your own merit without these "connections" that mean so much to you?

hey searun,
yeah i must say i have thought about this and I know that I will. I feel like I have to this point and there is no reason I wont in the future. I am definately confident I can succeed and develop my own identity. I have done well in my post bac years and did well on the mcat. I also like being around my family and want to graduate with as little as debt as possible without sacrificing my educational experience. Cincinnati just feels like the best fit. That being said, I am hoping to get interviews at other schools and visit them with an open mind. I am confident my stats would get me into UC even without the connections. I also went to undergraduate far away from home at Williams in Mass so I have lived away before.
