Just wondering if anyone had any info on the electronic MCAT's. I heard they were supposed to start doing it computerized soon.

The Computerized MCAT will be released in 2007. There will be 20 chances to take the MCATs instead of just 2. You will also be able to receive your scores alot sooner. The test will be cut short, 5 hours instead of the 8 hours alotted for the paper based tests. Alot of people are worried about the computer based tests, staring at a comp screen for 5 hours straight, not being able to cross out answers or write notes on the side.

Now, you will still have a paper version of the test, right? It's just that instead of filling in answers on a scantron, you'll fill them in on a computer screen (right)?

i also heard to cut down on the time they omitted one of the writing samples.

I believe that you will be able to take the MCAT whenever a testing center is open, similar to how the GMAT operates. They are still working out some of the finer points, but most of what has been said here are the leading theories in MCATology. Also, I thought I had heard somewhere that the MCAT would become adaptive, meaning that as you get more questions right or wrong, the test becomes harder or easier, respectively. This is similar to the way most computer-administered tests operate.

No, as I understand it, the entire test will be on the computer. You will be allowed scratch paper.

Here's what I know about the new format starting 2007 (this does not apply to anyone taking it on computer in 2006):

It will be offered in 4 windows of 5 days, meaning that there will be 20 dates total.

There will be one essay which will be graded by a human and a computer.

It will be 5 hours long, with time for optional breaks.

They are aiming to have scores back within 4 weeks.

Where did you find all this out? I couldn't find very much information on their website. It sounds much better than before.

How does that affect the number of times we can apply to Med school annually.
