Hi,
I just got accepted to Baylor and am waiting to hear from Houston and San Antonio! I was wanting to hear from any students at the three schools...why you chose the particular school and your experiences?

Also, what can I do right now to better prepare myself for dental school....can anyone give me the names of a good dental anatomy text that would also be helpful in school?

Thank You!

Hey pakgirl! I am a 4th year at Baylor. My experiences at Baylor have been wonderful. This is a great dental school that really wants to see you succeed as a dentist or specialist. When I went through the interview process 4 years ago I was in you same situation where I had to pick between the Texas schools. Let me tell you why I chose baylor. After interviewing at the Texas schools, I liked Houston the best. There interview process was hands down better than the other schools. I thought this is where I would end up but..... After thinking it over I was still unsure. Therefore, I decided to ask practicing dentist from all three schools which they thought was the best dental school. I had an overwhelming response that baylor offered the best education. And after 3 1/2 years at this school I can honestly say that I have had one of the best education in the country. Why can I say this? I have been able to talk to many dental students from other dental schools around the country and I Know that clinically we do more procedures than all of them. Some the the schools requiremnets are pathetic (not the Texas schools). However, I believe that whichever school you decide on in Texas you will get a good education. Both Houston and San Antonio are good schools and whatever school you decide on would be a good chose. Finally, just enjoy your time before dental school because when 1st year hits you will not have that much free time so enjoy it now

DBEAR,

Thanks for replying. I was beginning to think there wasn't anyone on the chat group that was in a Texas dental school.

Anyway, I am pretty sure that I will be going to Baylor next year. Where do most students live? Also, do you know of many married students with kids? I am married and will have my first baby before starting dental school so I was wondering if you know anyone who could recommend a good daycare near the school.

Also, I have been out of school for a while so I would really appreciate if you could give me a name of a good basic dental anatomy book to review. Thanks for the advice to relax though, but I want to be able to have a head start.

Thanks,
pakgirl
