I just have a quick few questions for someone currently attending UNC dental or someone with knowledge of the area =)

I was wondering what the parking situation is around the dental school area? Does everyone get parking? And where is parking available in relation to the dental school building? Do you park far away and take a bus?

Also, does anyone know how much it costs to rent a house with say another person in the Chapel Hill or Carrboro area?? Or what it costs to rent a large bedroom in a house in those areas?

Hi Sleepless,

(1) To qualify for a student commuter permit, you must live at least two miles from campus. Parking privileges for all decks and PR lots are purchased according to the following rate schedule:

(2) If you don't have a parking permit, you will likely bike to school or commute by bus. There is transit service to nearly every location in Chapel Hill and Carrboro (you will probably live on a route). However, whether the designated bus actually reports at the prescribed time to transport you to your desired destination is a subject of continuing debate.

I actually called UNC today...parking sux! Basically it is in our best interest as dental students to either win a parking lottery or live on a bus line that takes you to school =))
