I am in the same situation... Penn or U of Mich. I chose U of M not only because of the money, but because it is a good school and I know I'll be happy there. I may wonder about going to Penn, but I'm going to wonder about a lot of things in life. If I went to Penn, I would probably still wonder what would have happened if I went to U of MI. It is an exciting time... but do what your heart feels is right. For me, going to my state school was the best option. You say that Maryland is a great school... go there... do you like the cirriculum set up? clinical stuff, research stuff?? I guess first lay it all out with out the money being a factor at all... location, experience, closeness to family/old friends, etc etc.... see where you fall... then factor in the money last... you may be surprised at your choice even without the money factor.

I think that is a really tough decision, however, I would not go to a school simply b/c it is an "ivy" I would evaluate which school I really wanted to go to based off my career goals. If you want to specialize Uconn (which is not an ivy) or Harvard are good choices (P/F small class size). Penn gives a great well rounded education(lots of specialty clinics, early exposure to sim clinic), Columbia also gives a great education espicially the didactic portion. However, going to a school simply for the "ivy name" or getting into a specialty program afterwards, may not be the best decision. At the other end of the spectrum, I would not let $$ become the driving force for making a decision.

hey bkwash i agree with what u just said. Don't let money or school name be the deciding factors. When I first applied to Penn (my sweetheart and only love!) I did not even know it was an "ivy" until a few months after applying. I'm an international student, so i just looked at all the schools and what they had to offer and applied. Money isn't really a deciding factor for us internationals because anywhere we go, it would be FREAKING expensive--even state schools cos if we manage to get accepted--quite unlikely, we would still have to pay out-of-state, without all the federal assistance that Perm. Res and Citizens have.

Forget about money and name, choose where you really want to go. As long as you're happy. Money doesn't mean everything.
