Anyone else almost "self sabotage" themselves in the beginning of the semester?

My study habits are so horrible that it almost seems like I'm self sabotaging myself for exams. I had an neuroscience exam on Monday over the first 6 weeks of class, I didn't study or open the book at all the first 6 weeks. The morning of the exam, I woke up at 6 AM, and read the chapters until my exam at 9:30 AM. I usually go to class, but I missed 2 weeks in a row.

I end up doing this every semester, and I seem to get by well (3.7) , but it's not the way I want to "be".

Anyone else do this? It seems like I'm just searching for some motivation (poor test score?) to study

yeah I'm a huge procrastinator... I usually still do alright but it is a rotten habit I've been trying to break for quite a while because I don't think this will work in med school lol

just had my neuroscience test and got a 60 after 2 weeks of studying🙁 my fault though i did the study guide all at once instead by chapter

Got a 76 on my physics test after not studying until 60 minutes before the test. Senioritis is really getting to me.

Same exact score. Nearly same exact situation (did about 1 hours worth of practice problems and that was it). Luckily, the class has quizzes/labs which are worth 30% of your grade, so my grade was boosted to around an 86 overall in the class now.

I definitely procrastinate when it comes to solving problems.

I'm scared of one of my classes, and it's subconsciously causing me to procrastinate and completely throwing my usually studious habits for a loop. It's so weird. I don't usually do this 🙁

I have a 85 average in the class now because the labs and quizzes are worth 25%. Now that's just weird.

I should be able to get 5 points and get an A in the class, so I'm not really worried about it. I'll just make sure to study for the next exam.

isn't that an A-?

Only hard grades at my school; 90 is an A just like a 100 is an A. wootwootwoot

I remember in grade school when a 92 was considered a B. God how happy I am to be in college.

Also have senioritus + working on secondaries is rlly clouding my mind!

Neurobiology test tomorrow covering 6 weeks, havent gone to lecture or read book and started studying yesterday, SO MUCH MATERIAL ARRRGH!

I also did bad on my ochem test, average was like 75% I got a 72% which probably curves to a C+/B-, ive accidentally missed two quizzes and forgot to turn in a weekly writing assignment :/

I'm jelly. For most of my classes, 93 and up is an A and IIRC, it's 95+ for one of my classes. But I sympathize with your senioritis - I remember giving one of my older friends a hard time last year for slacking off during interview season, but now that I'm here..I can understand completely 😴

I also find myself missing/barely making deadlines on online quizzes and stuff - luckily I got an extension for one last week but I don't anticipate being able to do it again..

Got tests coming up and can give completely no F**ks. No joke though, I want to lay on my bed and be a fat cat.

Same here, Only A's, B's, etc. Also, I just calculated the grade, it's actually an 85 as well (I estimated last time). You're right, that is weird

I would probably blow a blood vessel if one of my classes had a 95 - A grading system. You have my greatest respect.

Dude, senioritis is crazy. I have a 5 page literature review due Thursday and I've done absolutely nothing for it. Lots of coffee + 5AM alarm here we come.

The pre-med illuminati has clearly been following us.

Nope. Been doing very well. Solid A pluses.

Hah, luckily it's not a science class, just French history/literature - I can stumble through via papers and class discussion 👍

atleast you have ochem quizzes...theres only 3 exams in my class and that's it!

I'm taking a 100 level science course that doubles as a social science prereq. The first exam was supposed to be about ears and action potentials so naturally I didn't study
Or buy the book. Turns out I should've done both on the last test. At least it got my mind in gear that I'm not a super Phenom student.

I like to prepare for exams and assignments, it's been working out great for me.
