I bombed 6r today. I got a 9p 8v 10b. I almost got a 7v. After the first half of the Phys section (which I did really well on) I started to get heated. The girl next to me was annoying and I just wanted to punch her and thats all I could think about. Needless to say I missed most of the second half of phys then I went on to bomb verbal as well. Also the verbal was NOT easy. I regained some focus for bio and pulled a 10.

This is not where I wanted to be🙁

Sorry to hear that Amit1.

I think if you felt nervous and/or distracted, it could have a big impact on your performance. But then again, I can understand your frustration nevertheless.

Good thing this isn't the real thing--week from now, we'll all have finished our MCATs (forever hopefully).

The best you can do is learn from this instance and move on. For sure, you'll be better armed from having had messed up this once.

I'm sorry amit, I with ya though. I totally bombed it P-8 V-8 and B-5 I've never scored so low in bio and this is after studying really hard for the past three weeks. I did so much better on 5R and I didn't study for two weeks before the exam. I have no idea what I am going to do.

I also did so much better on 5r. I would like to think that 6r was just a real real hard test but I don't hear everyone saying that.

I thought 6R was harder than 5R. I too did horribly in verbal (8). Got hammered in the last 20 questions of physical and did about average on the biological. I wouldn't be too worried going into this test if my verbal scores weren't so variable. Not the most encouraging last test to take before the big daddy on saturday. Hopefully I'm in a focused mindset when the verbal section rears its ugly head.

Thanks for the support, we really need to put this mother behind us. Don't let it get your confidence down. I was scoring in the 30's on 5r and 3r before this damn thing.

for that test. I have the solutions, but they gave no scoring table, so all I need is something like: raw score: 75-77 = 15, etc., etc.

Thanks in advance!!!

Keep the confidence there!! Don't let it bother you. I think on 4/26 you'll do 2 or 3 points higher than the average of last three tests. I have this feeling that people generally do better on the real thing.

Well, there are two threads complaining about 6r. Is this just a coincidence?

Amit1,
I don't think you should let one test get you down, especially when your surroundings hindered your test experience so much. You might have been experiencing mcat burnout....which can happen when you're so wound up that you can't think. (this happened to me on mcat III which EVERYONE seems to feel is easy, but which i bombed.) also--maybe try to practice individual sections of tests in an annoying environment so you can get used to distractions. i just finished taking mcat 6--and i have to agree with you, the verbal was way out there. i don't know where they pulled those questions from...the problem is, since there are 60 questions the scale is much tougher. so since we'll all be subjected to the same rubric, it probably will be factored into your scores.

especially if you've been getting above 30s in your other tests, you shouldn't let 1 test performance make you worried.

good luck!

I totally agree about the verbal. I maintained my scores on the sciences sections on 6r but dropped by 4 points on verbal. I don't think that anyone in my class finished the verbal. I am a little frustrated because I jumped on 5r on verbal and then taking 6r I dropped straight back down. Hopefully it is better on the real thing.

guys, it really just depends on the test. I bombed 5 (8,9,10) and did well in 6 (10-11/10-11/did not take bio), so we really cannot go by one exam or for that matter by any exam. Things are so fluid on the MCAT, who knows how we will do. We hope that we will maintain our scores that we are getting now but there is just no telling. I am just letting myself do the best and so be it. Many times on here you here of all these folks with 30 plus MCAT, well, that is just not the norm for most people. I hope to get a 30 but, if I get a 29 I will not die of shock. Many many folks do get into med school with less than 30, shoot the average for *accepted students* is about a 29. The moral of this rant is just do your best, do not let one exam dictate your mood (I know it is easier said than done) and kick arse on the real day!

I bombed physics on 6R. I got an 8P. Stopped taking the test, went home and decided not to take the MCAT. Then I got back to my senses (actually was forced to after a pep talk from a friend) and now I feel better. Think I will go study now. Glad to see I'm not alone in bombing this exam though! The support us SDNers give each other is the reason we are all going to do 30+ and KILL THIS MCAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Luck Everyone!!!!

yeah, the physics on 6 killed me too. I felt I was doing good all alone, then I go and pull a freakin 7 (!) 😱 I never should have graded this. Needless to say it did not do wonders for my confidence. My verbal dropped from 11 on Kaplan's tests to a 10 on AAMC. And the freaking formal critics passage? That one sucked!
