Anyone else hate getting BSed by their interviewer?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I may have missed the link between your perception of the interview and being BSed by your interviewer. It's entirely possible to make a good impression but end up with the short end of the stick.

The interviewer doesn't have the final say in the admissions process, so you really have to take whatever they say with a grain of salt.

Sure its a good sign when they say something postive, but it isn't always. Some may just say it to help the applicant feel better.

Yes, the interviewer is only one factor among many.

Besides, wait until you hear back from the other schools.

Yea what everyone said is true... but that doens't mean it doesn't suck though. I give the same line to everyone else, but when it happens to me it definitely stings a little bit. Unfortunately, the game kind of gets worse with residency. Hope everything works out though.

Well that's just crappy...I understand their interview feedback is only part of the admissions committee's final decision, but knowing that, why would they say something ingenuine that does not accurately reflect the whole decision-making process? Completely rhetorical question, I know. 🙄

I've heard of that a number of applicants- including myself- were almost promised a position.... then you get a HOLD letter- uggggg!!!

It sucks and interviewers should realize that.... Being positive is one thing- making bold promises is another!

"I'm on the ADCOM, you are in, no doubt, blah blah blah...."

DO NOT believe anything until you have the letter in your hands 🙂
