is anyone else super nervous about tomorrow...i did one of the back exams yesterday and did pretty well so i thought i was golden and would just review today...but as i review i keep thinking there is soooo much that i don't know and i'm getting super nervous now!!! sigh...

What I took to mind when I took my test was there is NO way that any one human being can KNOW all of this stuff. This is the reason they curve like a mother! It is really important to keep your mind during this test and don't let the nerves take over. MAKE sure you get some rest tonight, that means NO books etc... I know you probably can't sleep, but just lay there and try to take your mind off of dentistry all together!

I think I could have done better if I would have gotten some sleep! Also don't let the test intimidate you. Sure if you look on there and you don't know the first 2 or 3, you may want to get paniced but don't. Mine was the first 3 or 4 I knew so I was like "THANK YOU JESUS" Then they started getting harder! But I prayed like 20 times during that test and it did help.

So in short, take it easy, and if you haven't got jesus christ on your side, tonight would be one heck of a night to do it!

I am also doing some last day preparation, but I think I am going to watch a movie and hit some golf balls at the range to relax, because I know I'll do better if I'm not as stressed. (If only I had started studying a little earlier... right!?) 👎

I know I'm going to pass, which makes me feel good. Above 90 would just feel so much nicer than above 80, but it will be over tomorrow!!!!

(And then it's party time!) 👍

Class of 2006

Been there and done that, my fellow Class of 2006!

Here are a couple of tips:
If all else fails, go with "B"
If you see a H. pylori as one of the multiple choice choices, then that is the answer

Warning:

You'll find yourselves remember a ton of questions afterwards that you had trouble answering and then you'll find yourselves looking up answers like a drug addict on crack. This is what I call, "post-exam syndrome". Beware of "post-exam syndrome". Here are some symptoms:

1) Saying to yourselves, "what was that question again...?"
2) looking up information in texts, notes, old exams, and dental decks
3) calling up your close dental buddies and see what he put for a specific question
4) Saying to yourselves, "sh1t, I knew that! Why did I choose the other answer!"
5) "Yes! I got one right!"
6) Finding yourself drinking alcohol more
7) Finding yourself looking at the 1998 NBDE Part 1 conversion chart sizing what you hoped you got right out of 100 questions/section

If you have any of the three symptoms listed above, then you have the syndrome. Good luck to all of you and get them 90s!

:luck:

I'm not nervous at all. Maybe that will change later this evening.

Here are some things I'm aware of going into this test (some other posters already mentioned some of these):

1. Traditionally a candidate can miss ~30 questions in each section and still get a score of a 90 (this doesn't apply to dental anatomy though).

2. There WILL be questions that I don't know the answer to.

3. There WILL be questions where I don't even recognize ANY of the answer choices.

4. I can miss all the questions in #2 and #3 and still get a 90 by nailing the stuff I do know.

5. I will NOT have negative thoughts during the exam, no matter what. All that does is screw me over and cause me to have feelings of "I've screwed this test over". That causes me to lose confidence and rush my answers.

6. A group of 5 or 6 difficult questions in a row does not mean the test is more difficult than any other given year, or that I won't get above a 90. It just means that questions from #2 and 3# somehow all got grouped together.

#7. I've studied really hard and do know lots of stuff. I'll pass without a doubt. I'll get an 80 without a doubt. I'll get an 85 without a doubt. The rest is up to me, and there isn't any stress associated with this test.

Just my thoughts as I mentally prepare.

Those are really good pointers Gavin 👍

Good luck guys :luck:

Yeah, if you are on the West Coast eat a gallon of your favorite ice cream and go to bed. Everyone else set to take the exam should have already hit the sack.
