ah. im taking it in august instead. anyone else?

anyone taking a break or still studying for august?

you got it! i feel like the big one. i'm trying not to be hard on myself--i'm not done with physics yet and i work full-time, but i'm soooo damn disappointed in myself. i'm in the darn kaplan class and everyone's celebrating completion, and i'm sitting there thinking..."i'll be back in a month"... 😡 oh well. can only blame myself and my crappy study habits.

Im in the same boat, looks like august for me. Dam all that studying just wasnt good enough, oh well, I hope its worth it in august. I will probably start studying in may or june.

Going for August. Just took a practice test, and decided today. I am SOOOOOOOOOO pissed. 😡 So pissed I could cry. 🙁 Because I feel like I studied so hard, and that **** still wasn't good enough (sorry, when I'm pissed, I curse). This is such a drain on my self-esteem and confidence. I'm tired. I'm exhausted! I just want to take a never-ending nap. Why does this test DO this to me?!?!?! Or better yet, why do I let it? 🙁

You arent a loser, taking the MCAT when you are ready is the only smart thing to do. Ill be taking it this April because im beginning to get old :/

Kids, if y'all are losers for taking the test three months later, what am I for taking it ten years later??? Take the test when you're ready and not before that. You're ready when you're ready, and it doesn't matter in the whole scheme of things if that's in August rather than April. It's more important to do the MCAT successfully than it is to do it quickly. Keep your chins up, and study hard this summer. You can do it.

i quit my job last semester and only enrolled in one course this semester thinking that i would use my time wisely. after my relationship went downhil a few months ago, i found it hard to focus. now the mcat is only 2 weeks away and i am completely unprepared for it. so far, i have only done two full practice exams and my scores are horrible. i will be taking it again in august for sure because i know i am 30+ material. just haven't had enough time to prepare. hopefully this summer i will be able to get more in line with what i want to do.

where there is a will, there is a way. for those that are in a position like mine... if being a doctor is what you want to do. you will get there... just stay focused and don't give up.

wow, so I'm pretty scared right now. I've taken one full length (26, 10-6-10), and I"m hoping that that score was due to the fact that it was the 1st FL I had taken, not that I was that bad at the material. I did better on all the other verbal "part test" I took (~10's), so I'm hoping to pull one out on test day. If you take it in April, and don't do well, you can still sign up for the august administration, correct? I'll be taking 3 more FL's between now and test day and trying to study as much as possible, hope this is enough!

Anyone taking it in 2 weeks even though they haven't had proper prep time? I just don't see how anyone can really spend all the time necessary to prep for this test, yet still carry a full load (>16 hours) and work 4 nights a week. damn, maybe I just suck? How do you graduate on time if you sacrifice an entire semester for prepping for this test. Summer classes? those are $350/credit hour.

anyway, I guess I needed to get that off my chest

i have 3 classes left. bio 2, biochem, genetics. it wasn't going to affect my starting date (assuming i got accepted) so i could afford taking some time off... but i realized the less that i HAVE to do... the less that i WILL do. it's important to stay busy.

i did take one summer course last year and it was around $150/hr.

Yes, you can still sign up for August.

Why are you taking it in August? I thought you were scoring well???

Ahhh, but I never posted my scores, so it'd be hard for anyone to know how poorly (or well) I'm doing. I've actually been steadily regressing in every subject (VR, however, is my most atrocious, and I can't afford that), getting my lowest score yesterday. It's just not my time, unfortunately. If I felt that I could adequately get the material in (material that I never had in class) and get a good number of practice problems in, all while upping verbal (a subject that there is no true studying for) and bringing up areas where I USED to do well, I would take it in April. But that's a lot for me to swallow. So I'm going to take it slow, because cramming has never been my cup of tea.

Oh, I guess I confused you with someone else then. Good luck studying this summer. I might be right there with you if something goes wrong of the April one. :scared:

hey guys,

thanks 4 the positive responses. i was sure i was going to be set on fire.

doctor q is right as she always is, you gotta do it when yr ready. in med school we wont have a choice , (lol) so i guess we can "enjoy" it now.
only thing that sucks is that ill be delaying my app another year. THAT blows, as I was hoping it would be this year and im gettin old, but i want to do it once, early, and right.

im going to do some light studying and follow some baseball for this month. then come may its back to the grind 4 me.

good luck to all and whatever u decide to do.

Yeah, I started the semester thinking that I would focus SOLELY on the MCAT, but I had SO MUCH OTHER STUFF to do.... I've only taken 2 AAMCs, and the EK tests (which are so much harder than the real thing...) I'm thinking really seriously about it. Postmark tomorrow (joy).... Maybe I'll do a full length tonight instead of sleeping....

(posting my scores, just for feedback: My goal is a 34 or higher)

AAMC 6: 31 (P11, V10, B10)
EK1g: 27 (P10, V9, B8)
EK2g: 28 (P10, V9, B9)
AAMC 3R: 36 (P13, V12, B11)
EK3g: 28 (P9, V9, B10)

I feel like I don't study at ALL.... The summer won't be fun, but I bet that I can do a MUCH better job than I'm doing right now.

I would take another AAMC if I were you. Those scores are kinda all over the place.
