I'm out of state. Have the instate people already gotten them?

out of state here too. Anyone know if parents are strong enough instate ties to get a connection?

Still waiting too. I'm imagining that my app is in a "low priority" pile in the corner of the admissions office. 🙂 The Yeah, We'll Get To That Crap Later Pile. Ha ha.

Upsetting that there is only one school in that huge state. And its a heavily populated area as well, makes no sense to only have one school. And then the whole five states around counted as instate is another thing I am not pleased with. Ah well, what can you do.

I'm gonna join the lineup for OOS wannabe huskies. *sniff* I love Seattle.

No secondary here either.

Just got an email from them today. Said again they are going to review my application first before sending a secondary.

"Thank you for choosing the University of Washington School of Medicine
as one of your top medical schools. We have received your preliminary
application from AMCAS. In the near future your file will undergo
a preliminary review and you will be notified as soon as possible if
you are requested to submit supplemental materials; however, if you
have signed up to take the August MCAT, this preliminary review will
be postponed until receipt of the new scores. The review itself
typically takes a month to six weeks. We will receive August MCAT
scores from AMCAS the last week of October. The supplemental
application materials are due January 17, 2006."

Makes me wonder if maybe all my other schools are just this week going to receive my august scores as well. One month review though? I hope they are checking punctuation!

I got that letter mid-September, and I didn't take the August MCAT. It's a long, slow process to review. Or, like I said, my app is simply in the crap shoot pile. They couldn't be bothered to send me the rejection letter yet. 😀 At least I have a good attitude about it.

It's about the 10th week since my AMCAS was submitted. I'm ready to give up hope already. OOS/URM here btw. I decided to call them last week Friday, but all the adcom officers where in a meeting. I got a call back yesterday (Monday) and the officer said that my AMCAS was STILL under review and that they would notify me in the next 3-4 weeks. Geez. How much longer must I wait???

Unfortunately,
UW takes so few OOS applicants...
Interview season for them started October 4th, and they are just going to their first committee meeting this Friday.

They do, however, interview thru March I believe, so don't fret!
They are extremely picky about OOS applicants, and they take extra effort to screen for secondaries. I know for in-state, if you have a 3.5 gpa and a 29MCAT, they send you an automatic secondary. I think the #'s are quite higher if you are OOS.
And nope. unlike other state schools, UW doesn't give preference to OOS applicants who have ties to the state. You gotta be a resident in the WWAMI (Wash, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho)

I wish you guys all the luck in the world with med school and with UW.
it's a kick-ass school. I only wish there were more in the Pac NW area too 😉

Im still waiting for the secondary as well...Ill be happy if i get into OHSU though--i dont think ill get into Udub...🙁

typerlover-

You can be an in-state resident of WA if your parents live in the state and you are a dependent. However, you can't have gone to an out-of-state public school and paid in-state tuition there, and really to be successful at the app you need to have kept some things like a WA state driver's license, bank account, car registration, etc. I know this because I'm an MS1 at the UW and had to go through the hellish process of proving to the school (UW as a whole, not the med school) that I am, and always was, a WA state resident, even though I went out of state for college. PM me if you want any more details.
