Anyone going to University of Arizona Medical School?

I live here in AZ so my first choice would be to stay in state and save money. I'm looking for opinions on how good the medical program is.

I'm from tucson and applied to UofA. I don't really know what the stats are, but I want to go back home for med school too.(Tucson's great isn't it?)

The school can't be terrible...I have heard too many good things about it. (students and community) Did you take your MCAT in August or earlier? Have they contacted you yet?

Anyhow...good luck and keep in touch. We might be able to exchange some info!!

I'm a first year at UofA and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. It's midterms week so I might be a little slow but I'll get back to you as soon as I can. hey wehre wer eu all a few weeks ago when i posted if anyone was from Az! I am at ASU right now, just interviewed at U of A and thought it was awsome. Everyoen seemed way laid back and i loved the school. The city sucks and is horrid but the schools is awsome.. Our surgeon general now.. Dr. Karmona taught there up until this year. it is also cool caues it has that non competitive feel.. they dont have a ranking system so you dont have to feel so compeittive etc. I just liked the overall feel. But the disapointing thing is that tuition is going up.. the lady told me they have been averagin 2k a year increase.. man. Supposed to be up to 12 this year. Anyway .. anyone else at ASU?? im finsihing up my last semster there!

hey ya Wildcat, haha ya the rivarly is great. This summer in one of my summ school finace classes we had a U of A guy and he got riled soo badly. he was only known as the "u of A" guy . ha all in good fun.. at the end of the class our teach brought him all this ASU gear ha .. ya U of A sucks but eh now im turning cause i wanna go there! Are u still going to school at U of A? thatd be cool if we both ended up at U of A i loved it there! I had an interivew last week with a Dr. Dixit, he was really cool and super nice. Everything went well and he didnt stress me out or anything, i was siked cause i liked the whole attitude of the place. do u have AIM or anyting mine is sleepyca31 .. tell me urs if ya want, be cool to meet some fellow U of A applicants on here. im waiting for aug mcat scores here scared!!!!! ok laters

Anyhow...no, I don't go to the U. I went out of state to Louisiana to play softball for Northwestern State University but I am still AZ resident all the way. And I really miss Tucson! I hope I hear from them soon. Have you already taken the MCAT before this August? I haven't heard from them yet, but I took the MCAT for the first time in AUG... I hope that is the only reason. Unless they don't consider me a resident. They better! I filed taxes and still have my driver's license in AZ!!

Hey Wallstreet, you interviewed at UA already? When did they start interviewing? I haven't submitted my AMCAS so I'm still in the dark. I've heard UA interviews are pretty easygoing. Was this true in your case? How long did it take you to receive the secondary after submitting the AMCAS and how long was it before you received an invitation for an interview? I'm also finishing up at the porn palace, aka ASU (I've got one more semester left), and like you, I'm also waiting on the August scores. I'll probably give in this time and fork up the $15 bucks to find out a week early. I called the people at MCAT and they said scores should be up by this Saturday. Speaking of Carmona, did you know he was a member of the SWAT team? There was a whole article about him shooting (and killing) some guy that turned out to be a fugitive wanted for murder. College porn stars and gun-toting surgeons: you gotta love Arizona!

I'm with you phnle119. I was verified two days ago and was wondering when I can expect to hear from them.

hey guys,, whats ur name? u go to ASU?? that is awsome. this is my last semester too. HA hey u forgot.. cowboys and rednecks also unfortunatly populate this ignorant state but ya u gotta love alot aobut it. Like the weather this past two days.. OH man it is perfect, finally remmebered why the heck im living out here! It totaly didnt help us applicants taht ASU got voted numero uno party schoo.. i mean lets hope adcoms didnt hear much baout it! makes ASU look bad damnit! Ya my interivew was totally laid back. I intervied on the first day they had interivews, i had my stuff in early. i did amcas in july. they sent me a secondary prety quick after verification. Dont worry though, U of A doesnt have rolling admissions, rather they evaluated all applicants in december so it wont hurt you as long as u get your interveiw done by december. Ok um let me know ur major nad name.. surely we have had classes together. im taking biochem, ochem lab 2 and Organic evolution rightnow as far as science goes.. im also a finance major. ok ltr.. ya carmona does everything! he was a informant for the show E.R, swat guy,, i heard him speak last yer sounded super intersting. ok ltr
