I know it's hard to quantify whether one is doing well with essays or not - but I see those prompts and come up with about 3 lines, fairly juvenile sounding, and thats it.
I then read the example responses and these people have come up with examples like "In the civil war, General Durante...blah blah...in contrast in Vietnam the Tsao ting regime...blah blah" which are really specific, highly relevant, and detailed in their exploration.
I *can* write - but on the spot I can never come up with good, concrete examples, or really much elaboration. Anyone have suggestions? ....
