Has anyone had an Iowa interview yet? I have one in October and I am just wondering what you guys thought about the interview. What kinds of questions were asked? Was it stressful? Thanks!

Hey I just had my Iowa interview on the 26th.
I honestly have to say, I LOVED THE SCHOOL AND THE ADCOM.
It was kind of fun and they really really like their applicants.
It wasn't one of my top choices before, but it is now.
It wasn't stressful at all.
I had two people interview me at the same time, but very relaxed.
A lot of the questions in the interview feedback section were asked.
Nothing really tricky or out of the blue.

Thanks for the reply! Thats awesome. I go to the University of Iowa, so I am also a big fan. I especially like that everything will be brand new after the new renovation. I looked on Pre-dents, and we have similar stats besides GPA and residency. Goodluck to you!

They have about 100 in-state applicants, of which they accept 57, so you have a really good chance.

For OOS applicants there are about 900 applicants and only 23 spots =(

I am out of state ND resident.. I got a email back that they are deferring me

So I take it they changed their format? No more sitting one-on-one with a tape recorder? Because that would be awesome! I have an interview October 26th :)

I have one on that day too!! I go to Iowa and went to a predental club meeting last week and we were told there is no tape recorder, and that two interviewers wil be in the room. I'm getting excited to get it done and see what happens in December.

I heard about the tape recorder thing too, but thankfully it wasn't like that.
First they ask you 20 structured questions, where they don't give feedback after your response and cannot clarify any confusions.
Then 20 unstructured questions where you talk back and forth about general things.
Finally, if time permits they give you an opportunity to ask questions.
Every interview is given a max of 40 minutes, pretty much everyone on my day went to the limit. There are 40 questions and you want to let them know as much as you can about yourself because it is closed-file.

I believe it's 13 structured, 7 unstructured questions.

I have an interview at the university of Iowa on October 26th, I am an out of state applicant as well. I am really nervous!
