I just got a volunteer position at a local hospital as a patient representative. I'm pretty stoked about it as it means I get to spend time with patients talking to them about their care and their stay. I figure that's gold as far as EC's go. It also means I'll be getting a lot of water for people, but hey, that's ok.

Anyone other SDN'ers ever do something like this? I'm curious what your experience was like, how you enhanced it, and things you didn't do that you wish you would have.

No, but when my mom was in the ER, and I was with her - we had a patient rep come up to us and talk to us about those things you mentioned. He was really really nice, but I honestly thought he was trying to sell us something at first. I didn't understand that his job was to make sure my mom was ok, being treated well etc. etc. In the end - I was glad he was there, but I had to figure out what the heck his job was.
