Anyone having trouble accessing St. Louis's webpage?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

My browser won't load www.slu.edu !!! omygosh, i have an interview coming up SOON! :scared: anyone else experiencing the same technical difficulty??

I think it's just a temporary thing. I checked the website out yesterday and it was fine. If you really need to access it, go to google, and type in "SLU school of medicine"

The first result should be the schools and just click on the cached link and it should work then.

Even if you do go to their website, it has almost no information on it -- seriously, it will not do you any good. If you're wondering what to say at the interview (as to why you'd want to go there), or if you just want general info on the school:

They're a Jesuit institution (strong commitment to community); they're building a new research building - "the Health Sciences Center Research Building"; they value diversity (wow, how unique); they have a free student run clinic they're proud of; they're lecture/PBL/case-based, small group; they're reputed for geriatric medicine, molecular biology/genetics, hepatology; they have "virtual microscopy," something that uses computers and cameras to reproduce a working microscope in real time (obviously for histo lab); they have patient "simulators" -- robots, really, that can cough, have ECGs, respond to meds, etc. Saint Louis is a diverse city, so you'll get a variety of good clinical experience.

I highly recommend that you do a SLU search on SDN to see what SLU med students and other applicants have said about the school... also just Google the medical school...

You're welcome! 😀

Good luck on your interview, and PM with any Qs you've got! :luck:

Hey tinnyfluffy, when is your interview? Mine is on 2/8, will I be meeting you there?

Other unique aspects of SLU:

==> flexible curriculum. First and second year students may take electives, which present them with opportunities for research and clinical experience.

==> organ based curriculum

==> school's commited to serving the underserved. Two student-run clinics. Health Resource Center and La Clinica. St. Louis has a poverty rate of around 24%!!

==> Eddie, the simulated patient.

==> Basic Science Correlation course that runs throughout third and fourth year and emphasizes recent developments in basic science and application to clinical medicine
