Possible scenarios include:
Maybe you didn't match into a competitive specialty, did a PGY-1 year, and then did some research to help your app. Did you have difficulty in applying through ERAS after you left clinical medicine to do research?
Maybe you didn't do a PGY-1 year at all, and went directly into research. Any regrets? Ever think about applying to residency?
