I've always heard rumors about people playing schools off of each other and negotiating for more aid. Does this really happen? Does anyone have a true story to tell me? How does one go about this?
I'm in at two private schools with equal tuition. I thought the cost of living in both cities was similar but for some reason, one of the budgets is 4000 more than the other. On top of that, the school with the lower budget gave me 8000 in grant for year 1. As luck would have it, I'd much rather go to the more expensive school. Would there be any hope in asking school A if they could match or atleast approach the aid of school B?
I figure I don't really have anything to lose, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these things.
