If so, how was the match process and did you have any issues matching into specialties?

11 Ortho
4 OMFS
8 Pedo
2 Perio
1 Prosth
19 AEGD
10 GPR

If you don't know whether or not you should be impressed by this, you should be because most state schools only send around 2 per specialty.

You're more lucky that you got into UCSF than you did Marquette. Not that this matters but if you were mention the name of UCSF to any health scientist or professional from Canada or U.K. or China, they'll more likely be familiar with UCSF than Marquette. UCSF's curriculum makes specializing very conducive. It has long, predictable breaks, opportunities for practically everything, and the very best researchers and faculty.

MUSoD class of 2013- not a lot of interest in specializing however they were 3/6 in pedo (the other three got in last cycle), 1/2 OMFS (the other one got in last cycle), Ortho 4/4, 1/1 perio, 1/1 prosth
MUSoD class of 2014- 3/5 OMFS ( the other 2 plus one other guy are all in internships this year), peds 3/3, Ortho 0/1, prosth 1/1, endo 2/2 and a bunch of GPR/ AEGD people. We don't have as many breaks but we have a bunch of specialties at the school and love to "take our own". Our odds of specializing are pretty good and we don't put restrictions on who can apply like some schools. Learn to be a general dentist first worry about specializing later
