Fortunately I matched! One of my freinds is a PGY2 internal medicine resident who wants to try to scramble. I am wondering if anyone would be willing to help him out either by posting here or via email?

29 Positions up for grabs. I would love to know which two out West didnt fill.

It's on the nrmp site. After you login, go to my reports. Then click regional match stats. It will show you the regional breakdown for all specialties. The 29 unfilled spots mentioned above are actually for pgy-1 anesthesia. There are 60 unfilled pgy-2 anesthesia spots.

Damn. 89 spots? I guess this year wasnt that competitve after all

not competitive this year? if you do the math, 93% of all spots, pgy-1 and pgy-2, were filled. however, compared to last year, there is a drop-off in terms of competitiveness.

There were only 5 unfilled PGY-2 Positions in Radiology-Diagnostic out of 855 and 1 unfilled PGY-1 Positions out of 126 positions. In Anesthesiology for PGY-1 there are 29 unfilled positions out of 443 and 60 PGY-2 positions unfilled out of 846.

Can somebody list the spots by region?

Thanks!

PGY-1 Positions Offered/Unfilled
Western Region 15 / 2
Central Region 132 / 7
Southern Region 231 / 12
Northeastern Region 65 / 8

PGY-2 Positions Offered/Unfilled
Western Region 173 / 7
Central Region 174 / 7
Southern Region 104 / 4
Northeastern Region 395 / 42

Can someone please post the unfilled programs when they get acess to it tommorow. There are 9 unfilled slots in the West :wow:

If you look at the stats gas does look fairly competitive with the exception of pg2 spots in the northeast. this is where the openings are. Granted, this is where the most spots in general are at almost 400 but 42 unfilled is more than 10% in this category. The other categories like pg1 and pg2 in other parts of the country were pretty competitive in my opinion.

UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson (Camden) at Cooper Hospital will have 3 CA-1 unfilled positions for 2005. They are a brand new program that got provisional accreditation in 11/2003, and was not able to enter into the match process. They have 3 positions per year. This was according to an email I received from them.
