Anyone who submitted in the first week of July and got processed?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do you have red X's?

nope...

submitted 7/10 and still no red Xs

Yeah, submitted July 1 and processed Oct. 1. This is redundant by now but call and ask that your app. be put on priority. If they are not at your submission date yet then ask when they will be and call back. Right now it seems the only way to get processed is by being on the priority list. Even with this expect to wait at least another week.

i submitted on 7/11 processed on 9/20 that was only because i called and they put me on the "priority list" i highly recommend u call themmm

Hey all,

I am finally gonna bite the bullet and call AMCAS. Does anyone know what their "business" hours are? Thanks in advance...

Hey Legi, you should call them and demand to be put on the priority list. I did and I was verified a few days later.

But they're closed on Thursday afternoons, I believe.

Yeah, submitted 7/11 and processed last week. I wrote a strongly worded letter to Jordan Cohen, which the VP of student services answered by email. Funny, after writing the president of AMCAS, you get processed quickly...go figure.

Mossjoh

Mossjoh, did you write your own letter, or did you send the one we were all working on together? I sent that one, but haven't received any reply, nor have I been verified (submitted 7/25).

Submitted July 16, Verified October 5

I called about 10 days ago and asked a "specialist" why my application had not been processed while people who had submitted in August were having their applications processed. He said he did not know why (like I expected any other response) but he stated that my application would be placed in the "priority" pile (as if all June and July submitters shouldn't have priority).

As soon as I hung up the phone I then sent an e-mail with the appropriate subject line asking the same question. I received a response 7 days later also stating that my application would be placed in the "priority" pile.

Yesterday I received a call from someone at AMCAS asking about some of my transcripts (this call would have been completely unneccessary if he had looked under my maiden name listed on my application).

Tonight when I got home from work, I checked and, amazingly, my application is verified.

Don't give up- keep calling!!

tec-
there you go seee.. u gotta call the, to get ur app processed. even tho they put u on hold for hours, its worth it.. congrats tec 🙂

I've called AMCAS twice a week for the last 3 weeks. They said they put me on a "priority list," but I still haven't been verified.

I submitted on 9/26.... and today I saw RED X's when I looked at my application. I can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should definitely call and find out what is going on with yours.

i submitted on 7/6, called three times, sent e-mails, and i'm on the priority list now, but when i asked them how many people were on the list and how long it would take once on that list, they just said they didn't know.

For those who submitted in the lst or 2nd week of July, are you still waiting to be verified? I am.

I've probably complained about 100 times on this site, but I submitted the first half of July and though we're approaching three months next week, there's no verification in sight.

Its totally not their fault, but I must say it is more than slighly disturbing that some who submitted a couple of weeks ago are already being verified. The people at AMCAS really are completely and utterly inept. It boggles the mind. 😡 😡 😡

Well, I do want to point out that while I have red X's, I still have nothing else. It could be many months before I'm actually processed.

I am the original poster.

My application got finally processed today.

Submitted 7/5
Processed 10/11

I called AMCAS yesterday requesting my app to be put into 'priority list'. The specialist promised 'two weeks' but it got processed today. What a surprise.

p.s. I also sent a threatening email to them.

Submitted 7/8
Processed 10/11

I called last week and the specialist said that they were putting everyone who submitted by 7/8 on a priority list (how convenient!). I got an email the next days stating I was on a priority list for verification and that could take at least a week. On Tuesday, I decided to call in and asked for a supervisor - I ended up talking to someone named Crystal, who was sympathetic, and said she would send an email to the supervisor at the verification department but that she could not guarantee anything. I finally got an email today stating that my application had been processed. (Who knows how long it will be until they actually get sent to a school).

Hey, mpp. How's life in Squarebanks? Lots of snow already? We just got a trace.

You will wait for a long time to be processed if you don't take matters into your own hands. You're in that time warp of submitted applicants where the glitch in the software prevented processing, and are now being left behind while all the later submitters get processed with the newly straightened out software. At the very least you have to call and get yourself on the "priority" list for processing. Better yet, fax them a sternly worded letter like mossjoh (see above) did.
For guaranteed results, get a lawyer to write a threatening letter for you. Good luck.

for those who called and were put on a priority list, did you all get an e-mail verifying that? i submitted 7/6, called and harrassed the specialist, was put on the priotity list on 10/9, but i haven't heard anything yet.

One or two days after I called, I got an email stating my transcripts have been pulled and my application had been sent to the verification department for processing - it said to allow at least a week. I didn't wait the week to - I just felt it was pretty ridiculous that I sent mine in 7/8 and it hadn't been verified - so I called back. The first person I spoke with kept telling me, "It's in verification and there's nothing more I can tell you. I don't know how long it will take." I asked for an average number of days, a maximum, a minimum, she sounded like she was reading from a script. So I asked to speak with someone who might have that information and she rudely handed me over to a supervisor (I think) named Crystal, who said she would send an email to the verification department asking them to expedite my application. I told her that I would not consider my application as verified until I heard that a school had received it and asked if she thought a letter from an adcom or lawyer would help and she said "yes and no." Letters don't go to the people processing anyhow, I figured it wouldn't be that much help. Besides I think the idea that I was considering it was enough for her, because two days later, i got another email saying my application was verified, and I could check online.
No all I have to do is find out when a school actually gets it - if I don't hear within a week or so, my advisor tells me I should continue to call. It stinks, I initially wanted to stay away form calling them, but it really looks like you have to if you want to be processed.
Hope this helps, sorry it's so long.

Hey, Legi, me too!!! 😀 Too bad we're so far apart, we could go celebrate! 🙂 Isn't it nuts that just getting processed makes us happy? Didn't that used to be taken for granted?

For those who've written a strongly worded letter to Pres. Cohen and got their applications processed, can you share with me what you've included in your letter? I'm considering writing my letter and just wondering what to put down.

Put down that you're seriously considering legal action if your application isn't verified and sent to your verified schools by such and such a date. Of course tell them when you submitted and that people who submitted after you are getting verified ahead of you, plus any other problems you've had with them. Tell them their out-of-order processing is seriously impacting your chances of admission because most med schools have rolling admissions. I suggest faxing and e-mailing the same letter simultaneously.
