AOA approval for an ACGME year

I took a preliminary general surgery internship year at an ACGME program and am wondering if anyone had any luck with getting their Allopathic general surgery year AOA approved.

if anyone has any advice or has done this, I would love to hear it before I apply;

good advice: but he said, what you used for your extenuating circumstances, what type of approval you got...

any advice would be really helpful thank you
