John Crosby, Executive Director of the AOA, writes a web log detailing the AOA's activities and various policy positions and health and medical matters. This is a good resource for those students wishing to learn more about the structure, governance, and culture of the AOA. It's usually updated daily. Again, interesting reading for those wishing to better understand the principles and priorities of the AOA leadership.

Doctor of Jurisprudence, aka, lawyer.

Ah! Thanks.

I've never heard a lawyer go by "Dr. So and So" before. Pretty cool!

I have actually known some that do, it makes it a bit awkward when I have been with attorneys in formal situations, while I do know they are tech. speaking doctors I do not feel like calling them doctors, so what should one call them...I usually just call them by their first name 😛

Hahah that's hilarious, I've never heard of any doing that.

I also have seen some put ESQ. after their name.

Can anyone tell me what it means?

Thanks

-Dude, let's play 20 questions.
-OK, is it made out of metal?
-Yes.
-Is it a tank?
-Dude, you got it.

A JD is not the type of degree that allows one to be called "Dr."

If you want to fomally refer to a JD, do it as "Counsilor."

when I worked at a restaurant in college, there was a 40 something male lawyer that made reservations every week using the dr. title......he was usually accompanied by a 20 something female

I don't care if you have 12 PhDs, an MD, a DO and a few EdDs, making reservations at a restaurant using the "doctor" title is pathetic. Unless of course people with that title get some special table or something, which would also be pathetic.

Chances are that guy has a lot more problems than insecurity with his status.

He probably puts on puppet shows. The bastard! 😡
