Does everyone submit their apps this early or just the people who follow this board regularly? I know admissions are rolling, but some of the schools have deadlines in late December! I'm not planning on getting mine out for about two weeks as I finish up some much needed volunteer and research work.

Some schools have deadlines as early as Oct 15th. I can't remember off hand which ones. People applying early decision would have been being interviewed by now and would hear about their status by October.

In years past early submission improved one's chances of admission. But with the AMCAS mess this year, the advantage has probably been eliminated. Although those of us who are taking advantage of the alternate application procedures may still get some earlybird benefit. I'm not sure why you're delaying your application unless you just don't have time to do it until you finish your research/volunteering. But I don't think you need to wait until you're finished -- you don't have to have finished something to put it on your application. I would be curious to know exactly how many people have submitted to AMCAS. I read somewhere that half of all applications generally come in August.

I too doubt if early application will mean as much this year as it has in years past. Don't worry too much--I'm the only premed I know (in person) who has submitted their amcas app, and I know about 30 people applying this year!
