I heard that schools can find out how many other schools you applied to and decide to offer you a merit scholarship based on that information - is this correct?

I have guaranteed acceptance in my state school - I am applying to one more school, but I'd hate to be passed up for merit scholarships at either school because of this.

Thanks!

I think that rumor is based on schools wanting to "secure" certain applicants by offering them scholarships. So the more places you have acceptances, the better chance you have.

Not that I would know, because I didn't get any, but that's how it's supposed to work.
