Application cycle?

Hi,
I'm sorry If this is a stupid question, but what does it mean when people say that you can apply next cycle if you don't get accepted to any medical schools. Like, does it mean you can only apply next year june or is there a time in between for second time applicants or for applicants that finished early.

Application process begins in June and lasts for an entire year. So applying next cycle basically means trying again next June
