It just occurred to me - that interestingly applying to medical school is like looking for the perfect mate to marry.

AMCAS - is like positing at a singles section of the newspaper
Secondaries - getting the general reply (as long as you seem like a good candidate)
Interviews- Going on the first date (you dress up and trying to be the best you can be)
Accepted - This is the tricky part: the best scenario is both parties were into each other but sometimes you may not have liked your date (because they live in a dirty or gangsta area.) or their relatives(aka faculty) are rude.
Orientation - is like getting to 2nd (or 3rd) base.
White coat ceremony and Orientation - Wedding day and honeymoon
4yrs + = Marriage hell

Fortunately Majority of med students become doctors - Meaning a low divorce rate (No matter the hell that you went through - we going to marry ourselves to medicine who happens to be either our soul mate or for some a death sentence filled with anguish and despair)

Wow! I hope it's not quite that grim. But admittedly, this is why I played the field for a while before coming to medicine. I have talked to too many undergrad pre-meds who haven't played the field and wonder what life would have been like. It works for some and not for others. But good everyone in their new lives with the ol' ball and chain. <img border="0" alt="[Lovey]" title="" src="graemlins/lovey.gif" />
