Applying AMCAS before taking MCAT?

Hey everyone. How important is it to have MCAT score in-hand BEFORE applying through AMCAS? Like if you apply in May or June but don't take the MCAT until like August how much will that hurt chances for admission if any? Thanks.

Well your application won’t be complete anyplace until they have the MACAT so they won’t process your application or consider you for an interview. And how would you know where to apply without your score? If you take the exam in August you won’t get your score until
September. That’s starting to be late for MD. DO cycle is longer .
