Hi,
I've been an internist in private practice for the past three years, after finishing residency 3 years ago in another state.
I'm currently interested in applying for GI fellowship.
My main concern is, as an independent applicant, who as been out of the academnic arena for while, whether most of my letters of rec should be from gastroenterologists. I rotated in GI during residency, but I'm not really in touch with any of the GI attendings anymore. Would the GI program directors take this into consideration, or will they expect the same standard that they would expect from a current medicine resident applying for fellowship?
thanks
