Applying to Categorical and Primary Care at the Same Program

Having a minor freak out recently with career plans and am now considering applying to a few primary care tracks to go along with the categorical tracks I have already applied to.

A few schools that I applied to say on their websites that candidates are encouraged to apply to both (Cat and PC) tracks if interested. However, most websites do not mention this.

Any advice from people who have done this in the past? How would I be viewed if I add the PC program on now (approaching deadline at some schools)? Do you have to interview with each track separately if you are considering both?
