Applying to MPH programs and medical schools at the same time

Ultimately, I want to get an MD and an MPH degree. In all honesty, I don't feel it will matter which one I get first. So, I want to apply for both kinds of programs for the fall of 07. I have a couple questions . . . would either degree program care if I am applying to the other simultaneously (if they are at the same university)? Also, I haven't included any info about my intent to get an MPH on my AMCAS, because I only recently began to consider it seriously. Would medschools think it good/bad/or a non factor if I put my intent in secondaries? Would MPH programs rather have people who only want an MPH? Thanks for any advice.

If you apply to schools as an MD/MPH candidate no one will care and if you arent admitted to the MD program your application to the MPH school will be forwarded (at some schools...I know drexel for sure does). I can say from alittle experience that some schools dont care if you tell them you want to go to medical school. I told BU this and was still accepted to their MPH program. Many MD program let you indicate interest in the combined program when you do your secondaries but tell you that you will apply to the MPH portion during your first year. I highly doubt most MD programs care if you are applying to MPH programs bc many have the combined degree.
