Seriously, Lola is totally right--if you're going to take the MCAT, make sure you do it to the best of your ability and only take it once! It is an extremely stressful, psychologically and physically uncomfortable day (my April MCAT day was 11 hours! my August MCAT day was 10 hours!). I don't know what possessed me to take it twice--my first score (cumulative) was okay, but somehow I felt very uncomfortable having any part of my exam under 10 points, so I talked myself into taking it again. Miraculously, my second score went up by a few points, but certainly not enough to justify the torture of taking the MCAT twice. My August MCAT did not keep me from getting accepted to UCI, but I am kind of an odd applicant: nontraditional (36 years old), master's degree in social work with a 9-year career as a psychotherapist, extensive experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children, victims of domestic violence, chronically mentally ill adults, and substance abusers. If you can take the April MCAT and do reasonably well, that would be the best strategy.
